This privacy statement explains the privacy practices of Shimmeo for users of the app and visitors to our website.
Shimmeo's Commitment to Privacy
What is Personal Information?
"Personal Information" is information that can be directly associated with a specific person or entity or information that you may choose to provide to us. Personal Information does not include “aggregate” information. Aggregate Information is data we collect about a group or category of products, services or customers, from which individual customer identities have been removed. In other words, information about how you use a service may be collected and combined with information about how others use the same service, but no personal Information will be included in the resulting data. Likewise, information about the products or services you use or purchase may be collected and combined with information about the products and services used or purchased by others, but no Personal Information will be included in the resulting data. Aggregate data helps us understand trends and customer needs so that new products and services can be considered and so existing products and services can be tailored to customer desires.
Creating a Shimmeo Account and Profile Information
When you create a Shimmeo account, you must provide access credentials either in the form of an email address and password or by authentication using another service, such as Twitter or Facebook. You may optionally provide us with additional profile information, including a short bio, location, and profile picture. If you create your Shimmeo account by connecting through another service, we may use public information from that connected account to help complete your Shimmeo profile. You may update or modify your profile information and contact information at any time. Profile information is available publicly on our Services, such as on your profile page.
Connecting to Other Services, Finding Friends and Sharing
Our Services include several features to help you find the accounts of people you already know. For example, you may upload information from your address book or connect your Shimmeo account to your account on another service such as Twitter or Facebook. Shimmeo will match the information you provide with the contact information of other Shimmeo users. When you connect your Shimmeo account to other services, you are able to post your Content to those services as well. You may disconnect your Shimmeo account from your account on the other services at any time. Disconnecting your Shimmeo account will immediately revoke our authorization to cross-post on your behalf or otherwise access that account.
Shimmeo is a video sharing platform. As such, you should have no expectation of confidentiality in videos or other material if you have selected to keep the videos you created public. This includes not only the content that you post and data provided with such content, such as when it was posted, but also the users you follow, your comments and hashtags, the videos that you like, and other public interactions on the Services. Your public information is widely and instantly disseminated.
Shimmeo provides you with the choice of labeling your videos as “unlisted” or “public”, with “public” as the default option. If your videos are labeled “public”, you should have no expectation of privacy in such videos. Shimmeo may post “public” videos to a publicly available feed or otherwise provide such “public” videos to third parties. Unlisted videos will not appear in search results or in user’s feeds. Sharing is still possible via a link. Unlisted videos may be accessed by anyone who becomes aware of the link. It is your responsibility to ensure that the link is only shared with people you want to see the video.
Other Information We Collect
We may collect and store details of how you use our services, including search queries. This information may be used to improve the relevancy of results provided by our services. Except in limited instances to ensure quality of our services over the Internet, such information will not be associated with your IP address.
We may collect data about how you use your device and applications in order to help our app developers improve the app. If we do combine non-personal information with personal information the combined information will be treated as personal information for as long as it remains combined.
You may also tell us your exact location if you choose to enable your mobile device to send us location information. We may use and store information about your location to provide features of our Services, such as tagging a video with a location, and to improve and customize the Services, for example, with Content that has been tagged near your location. We may keep track of how you interact with links across our Services, including our email notifications, third-party services, and client applications, by redirecting clicks or through other means. We do this to help improve our Services, for example to provide relevant advertising, and to be able to share aggregate click statistics such as how many times a particular link was clicked on.
Use of Personal Information
The Personal Information we collect is used to process your requests or transactions, to provide you high quality service, to customize your use of the Site or Services according to your preferences, and to tell you about specific goods or services we believe will be of interest to you.
Any Personal Information or content that you voluntarily disclose in the app may become publicly available and may be collected and used by others. Your username or your Platform username may be displayed to other Users when you upload content or send messages through the Service. Any content that you submit to the Service may be redistributed on line and on other media channels, and may be viewed by the general public.
Sharing of Personal Information
Shimmeo does not sell, rent, share, or disclose personal information to third parties without your prior consent, except in the limited circumstances described in this statement.
In some cases, we may share some of your private information with carefully select third parties in order to provide some of our services. For example, we may share your device information with other parties in order to send you “Push” notifications, or we may store some of your information on third party servers in order to provide the best possible service. In all of these cases, the third parties are carefully screened and are bound to the same restrictions on the use of your Personal Information as described here, and may not use your Personal Information for their own purposes.

If you are between the age of 13 and 18 years old, you may use the Service but only under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to be bound by these Terms. If you are a parent or legal guardian agreeing to these Terms for the benefit of a child between 13 and 18 years old, be advised that you are fully responsible for his or her use of the Service, and any and all legal liability that he or she may incur. Our Service is not directed to people under age 13. If you are under age 13 you may not, under any circumstances or for any reason, use the Service. By accessing or using the Service, you represent and warrant that you are 13 or older.
